Charlie Daniels is recovering from pacemaker implant surgery. The singer was admitted to a Nashville area hospital earlier this week, after visiting the doctor on Monday. Charlie says he just wasn't feeling well and wanted to get checked out.
Doctors said he had a mild case of pneumonia and sent him to the hospital to undergo more tests, which is how they discovered his irregular heartbeat. Daniels is expected to be released from the facility on Friday, and has been ordered to spend the next two weeks resting at home.
Charlie says he's "thankful the doctors found the problem" and have been able to treat him. He adds that he's "feeling so much better" now, and is looking forward to spending Easter with his family.
Daniels' medical situation is forcing him to cancel his planned Easter service performance at Middle Tennessee State University's Murphy Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He's also postponed a couple of other shows.
The Charlie Daniels Band's concerts in Englewood, New Jersey on April 5th and in Newark, Ohio on April 6th will be rescheduled. The group is expected to resume performing with a show in Lynchburg, Virginia on April 11th.
