Rare Setlists From R.E.M., ASAP Rocky, Dixie Chicks + More Up For Auction

Author Nick Hornby is pairing his love of writing with his love of music with the Setlists For Young Voices — an auction where artists from all music genres donate their setlists for a good cause. In this case, the cause is programs for young writers.

“One of my friends used to stand at the front of the show so he could read the setlist and call out the name of the next song. It really used to annoy the band,” Hornby said in a statement. “So this is a way to satisfy your music-geek side without aggravating your favorite musicians.”

In partnership with fellow novelists Dave Eggers and Michael Chabon, Setlists For Young Voices will be auctioning off roughly 100 rare setlists from the likes of R.E.M., Dixie Chicks, A$AP Rocky, Patti Smith, The Who, Death Cab For Cutie, Janelle Monae, Reba McEntire, and more eclectic musicians. “We’re hoping to raise about $50,000,” Eggers said. “That will have a powerful impact on more than 150 student writers at the Ministry of Stories and writing centers worldwide.”

The auction runs until May 2 at 7pm PST and can be accessed here. Proceeds will go to the Ministry of Stories, as well as The International Congress of Youth Voices.
