TMSG: Florida Nurses Make Warm, Waterproof Sleeping Bags For Homeless

A group of nurses from Tampa General Hospital are jumping in to help the homeless with their skills.

Nicole Hubbard, a Nurse Anesthetist, said she saw these sterile wrappers that the hospital often throws away and thought it would be a cool recycling initiative to help the homeless. That's when Lucy and Claudia jumped in. They all sat down together to figure out how to make these bags by stitching together the sterile wrap.

RN Karley Wright sent out an internet email seeking for help with the project and tons of other workers jumped at the opportunity to help. so far, Tampa General Hospital has made over 100 sterile wrap sleeping bags to be handed out to the homeless in the area.

The sterile wrap used to be to protect surgical instruments, now they're providing warm, waterproof bags for the homeless.
