It's time for another Summer 2020 project update! This time I attempted woodworking by building a shelf that now sits next to the TV stand. Now, I couldn't come up with a great title for this blog entry, but it's about a shelf next to a TV stand.
Many of you probably know Dave Lehner. If you don't him, well he worked mornings on KCJB for several years. He's also really good at woodworking. Me on the other hand...not so good at woodworking, but I tried!
About 2 years ago, my Dad and I built a TV stand to hold an electric fireplace for my basement. We used pine boards to build the TV stand. Honestly, my Dad did most of the work and had the idea on how to build it. I helped hold the boards in place and stained the TV stand. My wife picked out the stain she wanted, which is called "white wash pickling," which I never heard of before. It looks pretty good and matches a lot of the stuff in our home.
Last year I started to build a shelf to sit next to the TV stand for more storage. Well, it started out rough, but in the end it turned out pretty good! I tried to create my own design and did everything mostly by myself, so I feel pretty proud on that accomplishment!
Since this was my first time building furniture, I learned a lot and will be attempting more woodworking in the future. What will my future projects have in store? Well, we will have to wait and see!
