Reba McEntire left a handwritten note for incoming coach Kelsea Ballerini, who made her debut on the newest season of The Voice on Monday evening (February 3).

In a clip from The Voice shared by a fan account for Ballerini, the Patterns superstar walks into the studio to find a letter sitting propped up against the red button in front of her iconic red chair. McEntire’s voice reads: “Dear Kelsea, I heard you would be the new coach this season and I’m just so excited for you. It’s up to you to keep country alive on this show, and I know you’l do a terrific job. Now go out there and show those boys who’s the boss. P.S. I left you a little good luck charm in case you need it. Love, Reba.”

Ballerini glanced over to her chair and found a dazzling tiara. Ballerini gracefully wore the crown and said, referencing one of McEntire’s unforgettable hits, “I feel so ‘Fancy.’”

Ballerini joins The Voice as a coach for the first time, alongside returning coaches Michael Bublé, Adam Levine and John Legend. During the season premiere, Ballerini already teamed up with a 25-year-old singer-songwriter who covered “Penthouse” during the blind auditions. Ballerini released the emotional ballad on her surprise EP, Rolling Up The Welcome Mat, in February 2023. The pair delivered an impromptu duet together after the singer’s audition. Watch it here.
